World's First Official Guinness Kebab Launches for Six Nations
Guinness Kebab Launches for Six Nations Rugby

For many Brits, the perfect conclusion to a night out involves a satisfying kebab. Now, in a timely move ahead of the Six Nations rugby championship, that classic post-pub fare has been ingeniously fused with one of the nation's favourite stouts.

A Pint on a Plate: The Guinness Kebab Debut

BOX Sports Bars has officially unveiled what it claims is the world's first official Guinness kebab. This limited-edition creation has been meticulously designed to resemble a perfectly poured pint of the iconic black stout, complete with a creamy white 'head'. The innovative dish launches on 5 February, coinciding with the start of the 2025 Six Nations tournament.

Culinary Craftsmanship and Flavour Profile

The kebab centres on a beef kofta that has been marinated in Guinness, imparting a rich, malty depth to the meat. It is then wrapped in a handmade flatbread and finished with a distinctive sticky Guinness chipotle glaze, complemented by fresh mint yoghurt. The presentation is carefully styled to mirror the appearance of a classic pint, making it a certain conversation starter among sports fans.

Tom Mayer-Jones, Brand & Marketing Manager at BOX, explained the inspiration behind the launch. 'Our new Guinness kebab is a playful nod to our Irish friends ahead of the Six Nations, whilst also tapping into our favourite night out food as Brits - the kebab!' he said. 'We’ve brought these two things together in a way that feels true to BOX - bold, social, and a meal designed to be enjoyed alongside big sporting moments. We’re inviting everyone down to BOX to watch the rugby and enjoy our new menu item.'

Availability, Pricing, and Pairing Suggestions

The Guinness kebab will be available at all seven BOX Sports Bars across the United Kingdom for the duration of the Six Nations. Specific locations include venues in London Piccadilly, Brindley Place, Deansgate, Headingley, Leeds City Centre, Nottingham, and Sheffield. Prices start from £12.95, with slight variations depending on the location.

Patrons are encouraged to 'split the G' with friends, pairing the kebab with a pint of traditional Guinness, the alcohol-free Guinness 0.0%, or even a Baby Guinness cocktail. The offering will remain on menus from 5 February until 14 March 2026, providing ample opportunity for fans to sample this unique culinary crossover.

The Global Quest for the Perfect Pint

In related Guinness news, the stout's quality across different regions has been under scrutiny. Sarah Love, a 38-year-old from Scotland, has embarked on an extensive personal mission over the past four years to determine whether Guinness tastes as good outside of Ireland.

Describing herself as not a 'typical girly girl', Sarah has travelled approximately 10,000 miles across 12 European countries, visiting around 400 pubs and spending an estimated £2,000 on pints of Guinness. Her quest began in Glasgow in 2020 and has taken her from the UK and Ireland to nations including Germany, Slovakia, Denmark, and Hungary.

'I wanted to see if I could find any pints that were as good as an Irish pint, outside of Ireland,' Sarah told reporters. Her findings suggest that Guinness does not always travel well, with many of her worst tasting experiences occurring overseas. Perhaps predictably, her best pints were consistently found in Ireland itself, affirming the stout's deep-rooted association with its homeland.

This juxtaposition of a new, playful food innovation celebrating Guinness culture alongside a dedicated fan's serious international taste-test highlights the enduring appeal and cultural significance of the famous Irish stout, especially as the sporting season gets into full swing.
