Celebrity Solstice Cruise Ship Unveils Major Refurbishment After 46-Day Revamp
The Celebrity Solstice cruise ship, an 18-year-old vessel, has made a triumphant return to the water in Singapore after undergoing an extensive 46-day refurbishment. This revitalisation is part of a broader $250 million (£187 million) initiative to upgrade the entire five-ship Solstice class fleet operated by Celebrity Cruises.
Enhanced Passenger Experience with New Features
Passengers boarding the revamped Celebrity Solstice will discover a host of new amenities designed to elevate their cruising experience. Key highlights include:
- New outdoor deck areas, such as Sunset Park, offering yoga, lawn games, live music, and private cabanas with panoramic ocean views.
- Refreshed entertainment venues, including a 125-seat Boulevard Lounge for piano bar singalongs and karaoke, and The Parlor sports and gaming lounge with billiards and nostalgic board games.
- Updated cabins, with all staterooms renovated and 54 new ones added, bringing the total to 1,479 cabins. New categories include the Panoramic Infinite Veranda Suite and Deluxe Panoramic Ocean View.
The ship's capacity has increased to 2,958 passengers based on double occupancy, accommodating more guests in style and comfort.
Dining and Entertainment Upgrades
The refurbishment introduces two new restaurants to the Celebrity Solstice:
- Trattoria Rossa, an Italian eatery serving seafood, classic meat dishes, pasta, and tableside preparations like chicken parmesan.
- Fine Cut Steakhouse, a popular venue from the Edge series, offering 30-day dry-aged steaks and fresh seafood.
Additionally, passengers can enjoy new production shows in the onboard theatre, such as "Smoke and Ivories" celebrating 1950s music with acrobatics and vocals, and "Rockumentary" recreating landmark rock performances. Other entertainment includes candlelit concerts with live string renditions of rock songs.
Future Itineraries and Fleet Plans
After sailing through Asia and Australia, the renewed Celebrity Solstice will debut its Alaska season this summer. Starting on 13 September 2026, the ship will embark on a "Grand Voyage": a 110-night sailing across over 55 ports in Alaska, the South Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia, concluding with a New Year's Eve arrival in Hong Kong.
The remaining four ships in the Solstice class – Equinox, Eclipse, Silhouette, and Reflection – are scheduled to undergo similar bow-to-stern refurbishments in the coming years, as part of Celebrity Cruises' commitment to modernising its fleet.
Leadership Perspective on the Revamp
Laura Hodges Bethge, president of Celebrity Cruises, commented on the refurbishment, stating: "Celebrity Solstice launched our Solstice Series ships and defined a generation of Celebrity Cruises travel. This reimagination honours that heritage while setting a new standard for what an elevated vacation can be. Every new experience was designed around how our guests want to spend their time, backed by the unmatched hospitality that defines every Celebrity Cruises sailing."
This comprehensive upgrade ensures that the Celebrity Solstice remains a competitive and luxurious option for cruise enthusiasts, blending heritage with innovation for future voyages.
