"In England, I find they have Tall Poppy Syndrome, where they want to bring you down with them," Marina explained. "If they're miserable, misery loves company, and they want you to feel miserable too." She speculated that factors such as the weather and broader national characteristics might contribute to this mindset, whereas America, as a newer country, offers boundless opportunities where "the sky's the limit."
