Brit, 74, Found Dead in Tenerife Hotel Pool

A dream holiday to the sun-soaked Canary Islands has ended in unimaginable tragedy for a British family. A 74-year-old grandfather from the UK was found lifeless in a hotel swimming pool in the popular resort of Costa Adeje, Tenerife.

The major emergency unfolded on Tuesday afternoon, sending shockwaves through the luxury tourist destination. Despite the swift efforts of fellow holidaymakers and paramedics, the man could not be revived.

Major Emergency Response

According to reports from Spanish emergency services, the alarm was raised around 4:30 PM local time. A coordinated rescue operation was immediately launched, involving local police, Canary Islands Emergency Services (SUC), and a dedicated medical team.

Witnesses reported seeing desperate attempts to pull the man from the water. CPR was performed at the scene in a frantic bid to save his life.

Futile Efforts to Save Him

Despite the best efforts of first responders, the attempts to resuscitate the pensioner were sadly unsuccessful. He was officially pronounced dead at the scene. The local Guardia Civil has taken charge of the investigation and is working to inform the man's next of kin.

The SUC confirmed the devastating outcome, stating: "Upon arrival, the medical personnel found that the basic life support manoeuvres carried out by the witnesses and the police were continuing, which they then took over, although they could only confirm the man’s death."

This heartbreaking incident serves as a sobering reminder of the hidden dangers that can exist even on a relaxing holiday. An investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy is now underway.
