A group of American tourists visiting London has shared their honest review of McDonald's in the UK, highlighting stark differences in menu, taste, and packaging. The viral TikTok video by Amber Kacherian, who has nearly one million followers, shows her and her friends exploring the British fast-food chain.
One of the first observations was the higher drink prices due to the UK's sugar tax. The Americans were also surprised by the variety of McFlurry flavours, including Jaffa Cakes and Smarties. However, they expressed disappointment over the reduced sugar content in drinks, calling it 'sad'.
The tourists noted the use of paper straws and cardboard spoons, which they found more environmentally friendly than in the US. They also commented on the food being less salty, with one saying, 'It's a bit less salty. I can tell that UK food doesn't have as much salt as American food.'
Amber questioned the point of eating McDonald's in the UK if it lacks the junk food fix she expects. Brits reacted with surprise, with some insisting UK McDonald's is actually very salty. The video has sparked debate about salt levels in fast food across the two countries.
