AI Robots and Robotic Dogs Set to Welcome Passengers on MSC Cruise Ships

In a groundbreaking move for the travel industry, MSC Cruises has announced that passengers boarding its ships in 2026 will be greeted by AI-powered humanoid robots and robotic dogs. This initiative marks a significant step towards futuristic entertainment at sea, with the Swiss-Italian cruise line leading the way in robotic integration.

Innovative Robotic Entertainment for All Ages

The introduction of AI robots is not just a novelty; it is part of a comprehensive entertainment overhaul. Passengers can expect robot-themed parades and interactive meet-and-greet sessions upon embarkation. For children aged seven and above, MSC Cruises will offer creative robotic workshops, allowing young travellers to engage with cutting-edge technology firsthand. Additionally, these robots will showcase their moves at the Doremix Family Disco, adding a dynamic element to onboard activities.

Currently, MSC Cruises is testing humanoid robots and AI-powered robotic dogs developed by Unitree Robotics on the MSC Bellissima. These robotic features are scheduled to expand to the MSC Bellissima in Asia and the MSC Magnifica during segments of the World Cruise 2026, ensuring a wide reach for this innovative experience.

Enhanced Onboard Experiences and Entertainment

Beyond robotics, MSC Cruises is rolling out a series of updated entertainment options for 2026. This includes refreshed shows, parties, and live performances across its fleet. Highlights include:

  • A revamped 70s Party with new music and costumes.
  • Twenty new big band performances debuting on the MSC Poesia, alongside the popular Dirty Dancing: In Concert show.
  • Updated main production shows on the MSC Seaview and MSC Grandiosa.
  • The return of the flamenco show, Paz, on the MSC Meraviglia.

Moreover, the MSC Seascape will introduce additional live music experiences, such as Duelling Pianos and a new American Country Band, catering to diverse musical tastes.

Family-Focused Activities and Educational Programmes

MSC Cruises is also expanding its family-oriented offerings. The beloved LEGO Parade will be available on 14 ships, up from seven, accompanied by an updated LEGO Family Game Show. An educational programme called Ocean Day, developed by the MSC Foundation, will provide kids with immersive learning experiences about marine conservation.

For interactive fun, passengers can participate in two original game shows: Chart Toppers, which celebrates music hits from the 1970s to today, and Quiz O’Clock: The Battle, a competitive twist on the classic quiz format. These additions aim to foster intergenerational bonding and engagement.
