The Paris Saint-Germain forward came off the bench to score a stunning goal against Senegal, demonstrating the qualities that could make him a valuable addition to the Reds.
Liverpool's Search for Salah's Successor
Liverpool are prioritising the signing of a new right winger to replace Mohamed Salah this summer as Andoni Iraola gets down to work. The former Bournemouth boss replaced Arne Slot earlier this month, and one of the club's biggest challenges this summer is replacing Salah. Even though Jurgen Klopp believes replacing Salah, who won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, Club World Cup, Super Cup and two League Cups during his nine years at Anfield, is impossible, Liverpool are actively searching for someone with the right profile.
The leading contender to fill the void left by the forward is Yan Diomande, who is believed to be a top target, having impressed in the Bundesliga this season. But Bradley Barcola has also emerged as a contender to take Salah's place, and he certainly showed what he could offer the Reds during France's 3-1 World Cup win over Senegal on Tuesday night.
Barcola's Instant Impact
Despite starting the game on the bench, Barcola came off the bench with 10 minutes of normal time remaining and made an instant impact. Just two minutes after replacing Ousmane Dembele, he latched on to Adrien Rabiot's long-range through ball and calmly chipped the ball over Edouard Mendy in the Senegal goal. Salah was known for his impressive movement, and the movement Barcola showed for the goal led to praise from Alan Shearer.
