Arsenal have been given the green light to sign FC Midtjylland forward Dario Osorio, who has been branded the 'next Alexis Sanchez', after the Danish club's sporting director confirmed the Premier League champions' interest. The Gunners are in pole position to land the 22-year-old Chile international, who can play on either wing or through the middle, mirroring the versatility of former Arsenal favourite Sanchez.
Osorio enjoyed another productive season with the Danish side, scoring eight goals and registering 10 assists in all competitions. Mikel Arteta is determined to strengthen his attack this summer, having relied on defensive solidity to end a 22-year wait for the Premier League title.
Arsenal's Transfer Strategy
The Gunners have been linked with several marquee names since the transfer window opened, including Julian Alvarez, Morgan Rogers, and Bradley Barcola. However, they are also keeping an eye out for bargains, with Leicester City's teenage sensation Jeremy Monga and Anderlecht's Greece international Christos Tzolis also earmarked as targets.
Speaking to Standard Sport, FC Midtjylland's sporting director Kristian Kjaer confirmed Arsenal's ongoing interest in Osorio, who has also been linked with Liverpool and Bournemouth. 'We know that Arsenal have been looking into Osorio, but we also know other clubs in the Premier League have done the same,' Kjaer revealed. 'I also think it is well known that Bournemouth looked into him historically. There are other clubs in the Premier League also looking into him.'
Kjaer's Verdict on Osorio
Kjaer praised Osorio's attributes, saying: 'In my opinion, he serves the Premier League very, very good because he has a hard-working mentality. His defensive transition runs are amazing, his top speed is amazing. Left-footed right winger can go to the right and to the left of his direct opponent. He has the full package, seen as the next Alexis Sanchez in Chile. I can see him making a difference in the Premier League.'
Regarding Arsenal's status as champions, Kjaer added: 'Arsenal as the champions. I think that might also rock their boat a bit and see how we can keep this position for next season. I don't know. We will see where it all ends up.'
Competition and Outlook
Osorio's hard-working mentality and versatility make him an attractive prospect for several Premier League clubs. Arsenal's interest dates back to last year, but they opted against making an official bid then. Now, with Arteta seeking to bolster his attacking options, the Gunners appear well-placed to secure the signature of the player dubbed the 'new Alexis Sanchez'.
