EastEnders is set to bring back its weekly box sets on BBC iPlayer, with all four episodes dropping every Monday from 27 June until mid-August. The move, prompted by a busy summer of sport on BBC One, allows viewers to watch the episodes at their convenience or tune in as they air on television.
The Mitchell family will be at the centre of the drama this summer. Phil Mitchell makes a lethal enemy in prison, leaving him fearing for his life. Meanwhile, Sam Mitchell settles back into Walford, but her true intentions are soon revealed with significant consequences. Ben Mitchell struggles in the wake of an attack, and despite support from Kathy, his behaviour spirals out of control.
Mitch Baker receives a shock when his estranged brother, Avery, and Avery's sons, Finlay and Felix, arrive in the Square. Mitch quickly suspects his brother is hiding a secret, but as always in Walford, secrets rarely stay hidden. The Panesar family also faces one of their toughest times yet, with loyalty tested to the limit.
Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer, said: 'With such a big summer of sport ahead, box setting all four episodes again this year feels like the perfect solution to enable EastEnders viewers to choose when and where they want to get their weekly fix from Albert Square. We have a big summer ahead so this is the perfect way to ensure that no one has to miss out.'
EastEnders remains one of the most popular programmes on BBC iPlayer, having been streamed over 285 million times in 2021.
