Arsenal have joined Manchester United in the race to sign West Ham midfielder Crysencio Summerville, according to reports. The 24-year-old Netherlands international, currently playing at the World Cup, is expected to leave West Ham following their relegation from the Premier League last season.
Summerville's standout season despite relegation
Summerville, who joined West Ham from Leeds United for an initial £25 million two years ago, was one of the club's standout performers last season, scoring five goals and providing two assists in the Premier League. His performances have attracted interest from several top clubs.
Manchester United's initial approach
Manchester United have already held talks with West Ham over a deal for central midfielder Mateus Fernandes but have also contacted the Championship club regarding a possible move for Summerville. According to FootMercato, Arsenal are now also in the running, with Tottenham and Aston Villa also expressing interest.
Arsenal's search for a left-sided attacker
Arsenal are in the market for a new left-sided attacker, a position Summerville primarily played for West Ham last season, though he is capable of operating on the opposite flank. The Premier League champions have already held talks with Club Brugge over a deal for 24-year-old winger Christos Tzolis, who has scored 43 goals in 108 appearances for the Belgian club. Arsenal are also keen on Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers, with reports suggesting Villa would accept an £80 million bid for the 23-year-old.
PSG also interested
The report adds that Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in signing both Summerville and Fernandes from West Ham and have already begun preliminary discussions over deals for both players.
