Beyond Paradise Cast Praise Stunning Season 4 Filming Locations

The cast of Beyond Paradise have praised the stunning filming locations for the upcoming fourth season, which returns to BBC One on Friday, 27 March. The spin-off from Death in Paradise is set in the fictional town of Shipton Abbott, but is filmed across Devon and Cornwall.

Kris Marshall, who plays DI Humphrey Goodman, highlighted Mothecombe Beach as a favourite. "You can only get down there by foot or in a 4x4, and when the sun is out, it feels like you're in the Caribbean," he said. Marshall added that he filmed a sunrise scene there with co-star Sally Bretton, which involved a dip in the sea.

Sally Bretton, who plays Martha Lloyd, recalled the same scene: "We filmed this at sunrise at the most beautiful beach, but oh my goodness, it was freezing!" Zahra Ahmadi, who portrays DS Esther Williams, shared her personal connection to Mount Edgcumbe, a location she has visited since childhood. "It was so lovely, in between filming, to sit outside and look at a view I've known my whole life," she said.

Dylan Llewellyn, who plays PC Kelby Hartford, said the fourth season has "really raised the bar" in terms of scenery. He singled out Charlestown, where some cave scenes were shot, as a standout location. "There were mornings when I arrived on set at sunrise and immediately pulled out my phone to film the view," he added.

The new season will feature a range of puzzling cases, including the suspicious death of a crime novelist, a witness claiming a mermaid wrecked a seaweed farm, and a stolen pirate map reappearing under mysterious circumstances. Beyond Paradise season 4 begins on Friday, 27 March at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
