Apple has confirmed a surprise launch event this week, where the US firm is expected to unveil something totally new. The showcase kicks off on Tuesday, and all the rumours point to the release of a swathe of home-focused devices.
The company has even teased as much with an event invite and social media posts simply saying “Welcome Home”.
What could Apple unveil?
Perhaps the biggest news could be the launch of an all-new device that might be called the “HomePad” or “Home Hub”. This gadget might feature a speaker and a screen, letting you control all your smart home devices and offering easy access to video calls and even TV via its built-in apps.
Some reports even suggest it will know who is at home and change the settings depending on which user is nearby. Of course, Amazon’s Echo Show device already offers many of these features, so it will be interesting to see how Apple makes the concept more appealing.
New speakers and Apple TV refresh
Along with that “HomePad”, we’re also expecting to see new speakers announced, with many expecting a big refresh to the HomePod mini. The invite to the event features a colourful fabric-style Apple logo, which suggests more colours could be introduced to the range, along with bigger sound and the more advanced Siri being integrated into the devices. This could make these speakers far more useful, better at answering questions and sorting things such as calendars.
Next up, it’s the Apple TV box. This hasn’t been upgraded in a while and is due for a refresh. A new design, improved remote, faster processor and compatibility with Wi-Fi 7 could all be headline updates. Once again, the latest Siri could also come baked in, which will make finding things to watch, via voice, faster and more intuitive.
Other possible products
Other products that could appear in this release include a rebooted iPad mini and a new iMac. Some have also suggested that a MacBook Pro with touchscreen may also be shown to the world, but we think Apple might wait a few more months before showcasing any new laptops.
It’s sure to be a big event, and Mirror Online will bring you all the news live as it happens.
