Supermarkets including Tesco, Morrisons, Aldi and Lidl are running toy sales in the run-up to Christmas 2026, with discounts of up to 50% off selected items for loyalty card holders. The offers give shoppers a chance to spread the cost of festive gifting and secure major deals before the December rush.
While some may think it's too early to start thinking about Christmas, others are already making a start on their festive shopping. Children across the UK are already making a start on their wishlists, and shoppers do not need to head to a toy shop to find the perfect gift, as supermarkets often stock a range of toys and gifts featuring popular characters.
Knowing when to buy is just as crucial as knowing what to buy, and keeping an eye out for big toy sale events can help shoppers secure the perfect gift while saving money. Some shops offer discounts of up to 50% off original prices, while stocks last.
Tesco and Morrisons offers
Tesco is offering 50% off selected toys in larger supermarkets and Tesco Extras, including products from big names like Bluey, Hot Wheels, Disney, and VTech. Shoppers will need a Tesco Clubcard to secure the best prices at checkout, and it is free to sign up. What's available will vary by store, and some items may sell out, so it's best to go quickly if there's something wanted. Shoppers have until November 1, 2026, to secure these offers.
Morrisons Big Toy Event is continuing with up to 50% off a huge selection of big-name toys for More Card holders. Loyalty card-holding customers can shop the offers in-store until Sunday, October 25, with exclusive prices on a selection of much-loved toys, including Barbie, Disney, Hot Wheels, Play-Doh, Build-A-Bear Workshop, FurReal and Heroes of Goo Jit Zu, to name a few.
Alongside this, shoppers could also take advantage of the upcoming two for £16 deal on a selection of toys, with full details of the discount available from now until December 28, 2026.
Aldi and Lidl wooden toy events
The budget supermarkets are going head-to-head once again with the return of the wooden toy events, both releasing in stores on Thursday, October 8. Aldi bosses claim its selection will include more than 50 toys, with some options starting at £3.99. Among the offers are some new and returning items, such as a cinema counter and kebab takeaway cart, plus a market stall, stackable dishwasher and medical/vet tables.
On the same day, Lidl launches its selection of wooden toys, with over 140 different variations to choose from, starting from £1.79. Supermarket bosses claim that this will be the "biggest ever toy event" that the retailer has held, including options like food trucks, trains, musical instruments, and more.
Other pre-Christmas toy sales
Asda recently held a discounted toy sale in stores that ended on September 29, 2026. Argos has a variety of toys on sale, offering up to 50% off selected toys alongside ongoing clearance discounts, and has its typical multi-buy mix and match deals across dedicated two for £15, two for £20, and two for £35 offers.
B&M typically hosts one major dedicated toy event per year, based on previous shopping trends. This has yet to be confirmed for 2026, but it tends to fall later in the year than the early supermarket deals. Sainsbury's has been contacted for details of what it is doing.
