A former parcel courier who was surviving on just £30 a week has turned his life around after appearing on Channel 5's Rich House, Poor House. Damien Mott, known as Damo, has quit his job and launched his own car detailing business, Damo's Diamond Detailing, thanks to the support of millionaire Nigel Botterill.
Damo appeared on the show earlier this year with his partner Becki, a care worker, and their son. They swapped lives with Nigel and Sue Botterill, serial entrepreneurs who run Entrepreneurs Circle, the UK's largest community for ambitious business owners. At the time, Damo was working long hours as a courier while trying to build a small car detailing side business.
Nigel and his team helped Damo turn his passion into a reality, providing a fully branded van and business support. Six months after filming, Damo has left his courier job and is operating the business full-time. He shared an update on Nigel's YouTube channel, showing off his new van and uniform.
Damo said: 'I've left the job I was doing so I could focus on getting this business up and running.' He launched a flyer campaign to attract customers and joined Entrepreneurs Circle for ongoing guidance. 'I'm a new business owner, and it's a whole new world, so it's helped massively,' he added.
Revealing his earnings, Damo said January was his best month, bringing in £4,500. 'I don't think in my entire life I have ever earned that sort of money in a month,' he said. 'It was an eye opener into what can be done.'
