Jade Monaghan, the widow of slain mobster Ross Monaghan, is hunting for the 'nest egg' promised from the Lyons gang before his death, 16 months after her husband was murdered.
An insider told the Record that Jade Monaghan, 41, has been hounding hoods from the mob in Glasgow and Spain to track down cash stashed away. Monaghan, 43, was gunned down alongside pal Eddie Lyons Jr, 46, outside his own bar in the Costa Del Sol on May 31 last year.
Pressure on gang members
Mum Jade is said to have had faith gang boss Steven Lyons, 46, would take care of her family, but cash dried up after he was locked up in Spain.
A gangland insider told the Record: "Ross had always told Jade there was a big parcel put by for a rainy day and she wouldn't go without if anything happened to him.
"After Ross was murdered she thought it would be handed to her once everything settled down.
"Ross was second in command after Steven and all of the Lyons business went through him so he was making a lot of money.
"When Steven was chucked out Dubai last year, she still trusted he would take care of her family eventually.
"She started to panic when he got jailed and has been putting pressure on people in Glasgow and Spain to hand over the nest egg promised."
Estate worth £80,000
Jade married Monaghan in 2014. She once owned a plush children's designer clothing boutique in Bishopbriggs. However, the shop was shut down in 2024 and a notice to strike the firm off was rejected due to debts owed.
Court papers showed that Monaghan left an estate of just £80,000 after his death. The insider added: "Jade lives a life of luxury and that cash was never going to last for long.
"She loves designer gear and expensive jewellery and hasn't had to worry about money for a long time.
"She has been patient but is running low on cash and just wants what she feels she is owed."
Joint private prosecution
Last month it was revealed Eddie Lyons Jr's widow Joanne had joined forces with Jade to launch a joint private prosecution against alleged hitman Michael Riley. Riley remains in custody in a Spanish prison accused of pulling the trigger on the night of the double shooting. Spanish cops said they believe he is an associate of the Daniel family.
Police Scotland has insisted they have no intelligence to suggest the double murder is linked to Scotland's ongoing gang war. The shootings followed a decades long turf war between the Lyons and Daniel crime families from the north of Glasgow.
Ross Monaghan was acquitted of murdering Daniel enforcer Kevin "Gerbil" Carroll in 2012 after a judge ruled that there was insufficient evidence. He fled to Spain after being shot in the shoulder outside a Glasgow primary school in 2017.
A joint funeral for the hoods saw more than 500 mourners gather at Bishopbriggs Crematorium.
