Vinted seller reveals how she makes £1,000 a month from unwanted clothes

A savvy Vinted seller has shared her secrets to making extra cash by offloading items such as old clothes, shoes, books, homeware, and video games on the platform. Brogan Sutcliffe, known on TikTok as @brogansutcliffeee, revealed that she earned £250 in a single week through the online marketplace, with her advice garnering over 127,000 views, nearly 5,000 likes, and upwards of 600 comments from intrigued followers.

In her video titled 'Vinted tips for new sellers', Brogan explains: 'I sold over £250 of clothes on Vinted this week, so here's a few tips in case you want to get started.' She advises sellers to turn on bundle discounts, saying: '100% turn your bundle discounts on - this just means that the more that somebody buys the better discount they get. I think mine are set to two is 15%, three is 20% off and five is 25% off. I probably get around 60-70% of my sales purely from bundle sales.'

She also recommends pricing items slightly higher than the desired selling price to accommodate offers and bundle discounts. 'Because you're probably going to sell a lot of your items on bundles or at least at a discounted rate, make sure you price them up just a little bit more than you're willing to accept so that if people do send you offers, you accept them. Everyone wins, they get a bargain and you get it for the price that you wanted to actually sell it for,' she said.

Brogan suggests that sellers model the clothes themselves if possible, as items tend to sell better when shown on a person. She also emphasises the importance of using search-friendly titles and descriptions. 'When you're writing descriptions make sure you write what you're going to search for. People are going to find your items by searching for that product a lot of the time so if you've got an Oh Polly dress, size 10, make sure that is in the title,' she advised.

Finally, she stresses the need to post items promptly, as negative reviews can deter buyers. 'Lastly, post every single thing. I know that's the worst thing about selling on Vinted, it's so annoying taking a parcel to the post office but as soon as you get that bad review on your page so many people aren't gonna buy from you purely because they won't think you'll send the item,' she said.
