Tesco Worker's Viral Post Exposes Customer Rudeness

A Tesco employee has taken to Reddit to vent frustration after a customer ignored clear signs that a checkout was closed, triggering an alarm and then accusing the worker of being 'lazy'. The incident, shared on the social media platform, has sparked widespread discussion about entitled customer behaviour.

The worker described how they had closed their till, locked it, and placed a sign saying 'checkout is closing'. Despite this, a man picked up the sign, threw it aside, and began unloading his shopping. He then forced open the gate, setting off an alarm, and complained to the employee about the noise.

When informed the checkout was closed, the customer allegedly called the worker 'lazy' before moving to another till, only to be told that was also shutting. He then abandoned his shopping and left the store, passing three empty checkouts and eight self-service tills on his way out.

Other Reddit users were quick to sympathise, with one commenting: 'Glad the customer was embarrassed in the end. Cannot stand that "I'm a customer so I get/do what I like" attitude.' Another said: 'I started working part time at a supermarket when I was 15 and honestly I never knew how rude and entitled people could be until I started this job.'

A third user added: 'I quit my job because customers kept doing this,' while a fourth simply stated: 'The customer is never right.'
