Tesco is launching a major toy sale from Monday, October 3, offering discounts of up to 50% on selected items. The promotion aims to help families spread the cost of Christmas shopping amid the cost of living squeeze.
Among the deals, a Lego Friends Value pack will be reduced from £40 to £24, saving shoppers £16. A y-pro football table will cost £12, down from its original price of £24. Some toys will be as cheap as £7.50 after the discount.
However, customers must have a Tesco Clubcard to benefit from the reduced prices. The supermarket advises shoppers to compare prices elsewhere, as sale items may still be cheaper at other retailers.
Anne Borrett, Tesco’s toy category manager, said: “We know that with the cost of living squeeze, Christmas can be quite a strain on the wallet, especially for families with more than one child. So we want to make it easier for them to spread the cost of buying presents.”
The early launch of Christmas products has drawn criticism from some shoppers, who spotted festive chocolates like Quality Street and Roses on shelves as early as August, even during heatwaves. One customer remarked: “Tesco, no ice in stock, but don’t worry we have your Christmas chocolates.”
