A recent taste test of supermarket orange juices has crowned Sainsbury's as the winner, outperforming popular brand Tropicana. The test, conducted by a consumer, compared juices from Asda, Morrisons, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Lidl, Aldi, Waitrose, and M&S, focusing on 'with bits' and 'not from concentrate' varieties.
Sainsbury's juice was praised for its fresh smell and taste, earning the top spot. The tester noted that while Tropicana was tasty, it did not justify its higher price point. M&S juice, priced similarly to Sainsbury's, was also deemed less favourable.
Aldi's juice had a good flavour but was too thin, while Lidl's had a thicker consistency but an unwanted squash-like taste. Morrisons juice was watery and lacked flavour, and another unnamed supermarket's juice was too thick, resembling a smoothie. Waitrose juice had a great consistency and a good amount of bits, but was more sour.
The tester emphasised that taste is subjective, and prices may vary. Sainsbury's juice, though pricier than some competitors, was considered well worth the cost.
