Supermarket chain Morrisons has unveiled a major overhaul of its online delivery and collection services for the upcoming Christmas and New Year period, a move set to impact countless festive shoppers across the UK.
The retailer has confirmed it will be implementing revised operating hours for its home delivery and Click & Collect services on key dates throughout the holiday season. This strategic shift is designed to give both customers and staff time to celebrate on the most important days of the year.
Key Dates for Your Diary
Shoppers planning their festive food shop need to mark their calendars with the following changes:
- Christmas Eve (24th December): Delivery and collection slots will conclude significantly earlier than a standard Sunday. Customers are urged to book early to avoid disappointment.
- Christmas Day (25th December): In a move that will surprise no one, but offers crucial confirmation, there will be no online delivery or Click & Collect services available on Christmas Day.
- Boxing Day (26th December): Services will remain fully suspended on Boxing Day, giving workers a well-deserved break.
- New Year's Eve (31st December): Similar to Christmas Eve, services will finish earlier than a typical Tuesday.
- New Year's Day (1st January): Services will again be completely unavailable on New Year's Day.
Plan Ahead to Avoid Festive Stress
Morrisons is strongly encouraging its customers to plan and book their delivery slots well in advance. The festive period is notoriously competitive for securing preferred time slots, and these reduced hours are expected to increase demand on the days leading up to the holidays.
The supermarket assures customers that its physical stores will have varying opening hours throughout the festive period, which will be displayed on individual store finder pages on their website. This ensures shoppers can still pop in-store for any last-minute essentials or forgotten items.
This announcement follows a pattern set by other major UK supermarkets, all of which adjust their operations to accommodate the national holidays and allow staff to spend time with their families during the festive season.
