Meghan Markle has faced criticism from royal fans over a new promotional video for her As Ever wine brand, with many pointing out that the clip predominantly features her rosé while neglecting her other wines. The Duchess of Sussex shared the video on Thursday night, showcasing her 2021 Vintage Napa Valley Brut, 2024 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, and 2024 Napa Valley Rosé.
In the video, Meghan is seen in white jeans, an ivory blazer, and a white tank top, walking while holding two glasses and her brut before opening the rosé on a table with a cheeseboard, flower vase, and wine bucket. Fans noted that the rosé received most of the screen time, with the sparkling wine and sauvignon blanc barely visible.
Royal News Network, an account often critical of the Sussexes, commented on X: “So close, and yet so far. Meghan attempts to do a new As ever ad for her wine—a product she’s ignored for months—but fails to show off her Sauvignon blanc at all. It’s just basically an ad for her rosé with a quick sighting of the brut and I’m not sure I even sure the blanc was there.”
Other users echoed the sentiment, with one suggesting Meghan should take lessons from chef Giada De Laurentiis, and another stating: “It’s a Meghan Markle performance and not an authentic effort to sell products. Meghan is the focus, not the products.” A fifth person added: “The only thing I see in her posts is advertising her and her outfits. I didn’t even realise it was for her wine lol.”
The criticism comes after Meghan was also mocked earlier this week for her unusual method of chopping onions in a family video. The Duchess shared a glimpse of her family life in Montecito, California, with Prince Harry and their children, but fans found her cutting technique bizarre.
