Lidl's £5 School Uniform Returns June 25

Lidl has confirmed that its hugely popular school uniform sale will return to all stores across the UK from Thursday, June 25. For the fifth consecutive year, the budget retailer is bringing back its much-loved £5 school uniform bundle, offering parents a cost-effective way to prepare for the upcoming school term.

Affordable Essentials for Every Child

The £5 bundle includes a two-pack of polos, a sweatshirt, and a choice of skirt, shorts, or trousers, covering all the basics. Individual items start from as little as £1.50, with prices for specific pieces such as school shorts at £1.75, school sweatshirts at £1.50, and a two-pack of school T-shirts at £1.89. The range is available in sizes four to 12 years.

Lidl describes the collection as a one-stop shop for all classroom essentials, designed to be both affordable and durable. The uniforms feature water-repellent skirts, shorts, and trousers to handle muddy adventures, and all items are machine washable and tumble dryer safe for easy care.

Additional Items and In-Store Availability

Alongside the uniform bundle, Lidl will stock other school essentials such as lunchboxes, drink bottles, and stationery in the Middle of Lidl aisles. The full range includes items like kids' school joggers (£6.99), zip-up school hoodies (£3.99), and two-packs of school dresses (£6.99).

New Legislation to Help Parents

From September, new laws under the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill will require schools to limit branded uniform items to three (excluding ties), potentially saving parents up to £50 per child. This comes alongside expanded free school meals for half a million additional children and the rollout of over 2,000 free breakfast clubs by September, aimed at supporting families amid cost-of-living pressures.

The average school uniform cost is around £340 per year for primary school and £454 for secondary school, covering branded items, generic clothing, PE kits, and shoes. Lidl's affordable range aims to ease this financial burden for families.
