Fire crews tackled a large blaze at a business centre in the Valleys on Monday, June 8, with the cause still unknown due to extensive structural damage.
Fire at Ty Menter, Navigation Park
Thick black smoke billowed across the nearby A470 as firefighters responded to the incident at Ty Menter, Navigation Park, Abercynon. Crews were called at around 1.45pm and spent nine hours battling the flames with specialist equipment.
They remained at the scene the following day as investigations continued. Nearby residents were advised to close windows and doors due to the smoke and to avoid the area. Drivers on the A470 were urged to take extra care because of reduced visibility.
Investigation Ongoing
A spokesman for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "The cause of the fire remains undetermined due to the fire investigation officers being unable to complete the investigation fully because of the structural damage to the property."
Dramatic drone images showed significant damage, with the roof completely ripped off the L-shaped building. The fire service continues to monitor the site.
