A tourist dining at an Ibiza beach restaurant was left questioning the cost after receiving a bill that included €6.50 (£5.50) for a 20cl Coca-Cola, €11 (£9.50) for a bottle of water, and €16 (£13.50) for bread.
Receipt sparks online debate
Jesús Soriano posted a photo of the receipt on X on August 4, writing: "I don't want to single out the restaurant. I want to spark a discussion. Because it's one thing to pay more for a prime beachfront spot... but it's quite another to pay €6.50 for a 20cl Coca-Cola, €11 for a bottle of water, and €16 for bread. Where do you draw the line? Let me know what you think."
The bill also included €28 (£24) for chips with guacamole, €32 (£27) for calamari, €15 (£13) for veal carpaccio, €36 (£30) for steak tartare, and €48 (£41) per serving of rice with vegetables.
Total and tipping suggestions
The overall bill reached €290.50 (£248), including 10% tax. The restaurant suggested tipping between 10% and 20%, which would have pushed the final amount beyond €319 (£272.50).
While Soriano did not name the restaurant or reveal how many people were dining, the bill appears to cover a generous amount of food and drink for three people, working out at roughly £90 per person.

In 2026, the standard cost of dining out in Liverpool ranges from £15 for a casual meal to roughly £70 for a three-course dinner for two at mid-range restaurants, making Ibiza significantly pricier.
When Soriano asked others for their thoughts, responses were mixed. One commenter wrote: "It seems excessive to me, but if the prices were displayed, there's no deception. If I see those prices, I don't go in. I don't go in at all, rather than going in and then complaining."
