New Dryrobe Waterproof Parka: Stylish, Slim-Fit Winter Coat
Dryrobe Waterproof Parka: A Slim-Fit Winter Coat

The new Dryrobe Waterproof Parka has launched, designed to bridge the gap between technical changing gear and daily outerwear. It offers the weatherproof performance of the iconic changing robe in a conventionally fitting long coat, without the oversized volume required for changing.

From Changing Robe to Everyday Coat

The original Dryrobe, described as 'the world's most versatile change robe', was initially worn by surfers and open water swimmers to get changed anywhere while protected from the elements. It gained widespread popularity, with celebrities like Harry Styles spotted wearing one on the film set for My Policeman.

However, the oversized fit was considered unnecessary for those using it as a standard coat rather than a substitute changing room. The new parka draws inspiration directly from 'the Dryrobe community', seamlessly blending high-performance weatherproof elements into a tailored profile.

Features and Design

Key features include an adjustable, peaked fleece-lined hood, a magnetic storm flap, and fitted sleeves with wrist fasteners. The parka offers two zipped hip pockets and two dual internal chest pockets, all with a cosy polar fleece lining. It also has a hook for hanging, which lifts the coat higher off the floor, and the branding is more subtle than on the original.

The 'deep blue sea' coloured parka has been tested at the side of a sports pitch and on soggy dog walks. The sherpa fleece lining kept the wearer warm while standing still for 90 minutes, but the lightweight design prevented overheating during dog walks, unlike the original robe.

Availability and Price

On the launch, founder Gideon Bright, who established the company in 2010, said: "Our goal at Dryrobe is to create products that help people get outside, whatever the weather. The Waterproof Parka came directly from our community – people who love the protection and performance of our changing robes, but wanted that same weatherproofing in a more conventional fit for everyday wear."

The Dryrobe Waterproof Parka is priced at £155 and is available in Black, Burgundy, and Deep Blue Sea, available to buy from the website.
