A retail veteran with over a decade of experience has revealed the crucial timing for purchasing Christmas essentials to avoid disappointment and secure the best deals.
TikTok user Ashleigh, known as @ashleighloveschristmas, spent more than 10 years working in retail and understands how major chains operate. Drawing on her industry knowledge, she identified three must-buy items that should be purchased during November to guarantee availability and value for money.
First, Christmas jumpers. Ashleigh explained that jumpers typically arrive in stores from November 1st after Halloween. Shoppers should buy them as soon as they see a favourite, as retailers often offer 25% off before December. She advised asking staff about the timing of such sales.
Second, advent calendars. Ashleigh noted that popular brands like Cadbury and Galaxy sell out quickly before December 1st, leaving only expensive premium options. She urged shoppers to grab standard calendars when they first appear in stores to avoid disappointment.
Third, batteries. According to Ashleigh, cheap own-brand batteries are available from stores like Asda and Tesco in November, but are later replaced by pricier Duracell stands that cost around £10. She recommended buying budget batteries early to save money.
Shoppers responded positively to Ashleigh's tips on social media, with one commenting: 'Batteries is such a good shout. I always forget.' Another added: 'Thank you! This is a great reminder.'
