Aldi has sent shoppers into a frenzy with the release of a £5 candle that many claim smells identical to a £150 Jo Malone version. The supermarket's Hotel Collection Dual Fragrance Candle, part of its SpecialBuy range, has been dubbed a 'mandle' by the retailer, who says it is perfect for Father's Day.
The candle features a two-wick design and weighs 450g, compared to Jo Malone's 600g offering. Aldi's version is available in layered wax fragrances, while Jo Malone's range includes scents like English pear and freesia, lime basil and mandarin, and peony and blush suede.
Aldi promoted the candle on Instagram, writing: 'Some Dads just like a nice candle, and that’s exactly what these are. Pick up a Hotel Collection Dual Fragrance Candle to make his man cave smell amazing this Father’s Day. Find them on the middle aisle from Sunday 12th June.'
The candles have already become a hit on social media, with shoppers praising the scent and value. In addition to the candle, Aldi also offers a Hotel Collection Dual Fragrance Reed Diffuser Set for £8.99. Both items are available in stores now.
