Shoppers across the UK need to plan their grocery trips carefully this coming Bank Holiday Monday, as discount retailer Aldi has confirmed its stores will operate under reduced hours.
The supermarket chain, known for its low prices and special buys, will close all of its nearly 1,000 UK stores on Monday, 6th May, for the Early May Bank Holiday. This is to allow its hard-working staff to enjoy the day off with their families.
When Will Aldi Be Open?
Aldi has confirmed that the vast majority of its stores will be shut for the entire day. This means no last-minute barbecue essentials or forgotten picnic items can be purchased from Aldi on the day itself.
As is standard practice for most major supermarkets on Bank Holidays, this temporary closure affects all stores in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Customers are strongly advised to check their local store's specific opening times using the Aldi store locator tool on their website for any potential exceptions, though these are expected to be extremely rare.
Plan Your Shop in Advance
To avoid disappointment, customers should plan their shopping for the long weekend in advance. Stores will be operating under their normal Saturday trading hours in the lead-up to the holiday.
This Bank Holiday closure is a common occurrence across the retail sector, with other chains like Lidl, Tesco, and Asda also typically implementing similar reduced hours or full closures to give employees a well-deserved break.
Aldi will reopen as normal from Tuesday, 7th May onwards.
