Aldi is set to recruit 450 new staff as it opens 40 new stores across the UK this year as part of a £370 million investment programme. The retail giant currently has more than 1,080 stores in the UK, employing over 43,000 colleagues.
Job Vacancies and Pay Details
More than 450 store assistant vacancies are currently available across the country. Aldi says that no formal qualifications are required for entry-level positions, but it is looking for people who are 'friendly, positive, and comfortable with numbers'. Successful applicants will earn £13.50 per hour nationally and £14.88 within the M25, regardless of age, rising to £14.47 and £15.20 respectively based on length of service.
Aldi remains the only major supermarket to offer paid breaks to all colleagues, meaning staff take home an extra £1,500 per year on average, according to the company.

Store Expansions and Upgrades
In addition to new store openings, Aldi is upgrading 25 existing UK stores this summer in locations including Pitsea, Musselburgh, Kingston-upon-Thames and Stockton. The first Aldi store opened in Essen, Germany in 1913, with the first UK store opening its doors in 1990.
