Aldi Announces 24-Hour Prosecco Discount Tied to England World Cup Performance
Aldi 24-Hour Prosecco Discount Tied to England World Cup

Aldi has announced a new promotion across its 1,080 UK stores, offering discounts on its Specially Selected Prosecco based on England's performance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Each promotional price will only be available for 24 hours within 48 hours of a match, and only if England wins and progresses through the tournament.

How the Promotion Works

The German retail giant will cut the price of its Specially Selected Prosecco every time the Three Lions advance through the 48-nation tournament. If England qualifies from the group stages to the round of 32, the price drops from £7.99 to £6.99. Further discounts are unlocked with each knockout-stage victory, offering shoppers even bigger savings as England progresses. After each discount period, the price returns to the standard £7.99 until the next win.

Potential Discounts

If England continues its World Cup run, customers could enjoy the following 24-hour discounts:

  • Group stage qualification: £6.99
  • Round of 32 win: £6.49
  • Round of 16 win: £5.99
  • Quarter-final win: £5.49
  • Semi-final win: £4.99
  • World Cup win: £4.49

The promotion is available in Aldi stores across England, Wales, and Scotland. However, due to Scotland's Minimum Unit Pricing legislation, promotional pricing will differ from the Quarter Final stage onwards.

Statement from Aldi

Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: "We know many shoppers will be getting together with friends and family to watch England throughout the World Cup, so we wanted to make those celebrations even more affordable. With every England victory, shoppers will unlock even bigger savings on our Specially Selected Prosecco."

Store Expansion Plans

The announcement comes as Aldi confirmed plans to open 16 new stores across the UK in the coming months, including locations in Watford, Hoxton in London, Hattersley in Greater Manchester, Balsall Common in the West Midlands, and one on the Isle of Wight. The chain said these launches are part of its long-term ambition to operate 1,500 stores in the UK.
