Urgent Recall: Mistral Vacuum Cleaners Can Overheat and Cause Burns
Mistral Vacuum Cleaner Recall: Risk of Burns and Fire

An urgent recall has been issued for a popular vacuum cleaner due to safety concerns that it could cause serious burns and property damage. The Mistral vacuum cleaner, sold at Bunnings stores across Australia, has been recalled because of a manufacturing defect that may cause the device to overheat and catch fire.

Details of the Recall

The recall applies specifically to the Mistral Barrel Cyclonic Vacuum Cleaner 1800W (model BVC160) and the 2400W model (BVC165). These products were sold at Bunnings stores nationwide between July 2025 and May 2026.

According to the recall notice, a manufacturing defect could cause the vacuum to overheat during use. This overheating poses a risk of serious burns and property damage. Several incidents have already been reported, including unusual noises, unpleasant smells, and smoke coming from the affected units.
