The cheapest postcode areas to buy a home across Greater Manchester have been revealed, with M38 in Little Hulton, Salford, topping the list. Homes there sold for an average of £166,696 in the 12 months leading up to the end of August.

UK house prices have risen this year, with the average property in the region costing £292,513 over the last year. However, certain areas remain far more affordable.

The BL4 postcode area, covering Bolton, is the second cheapest, with houses selling for an average of £177,915. OL8, which covers Bardsley in Oldham, is third, with an average home price of £178,247.

M18, covering Abbey Hey in Manchester, follows with an average house price of £181,908. These areas all have house prices below £200,000.
