Welsh Manor House Hides Costly Secret
Welsh Manor House Hides Costly Secret

A Welsh manor house is concealing a costly secret, according to a new report on the most expensive and unusual properties to rent in Wales. The property, part of the Cwrt-Yr-Ala Barns complex near Michaelston-Le-Pit, offers luxury living with access to a swimming pool, hot tub, and tennis court. However, the rental price reflects the high-end amenities, with the average rent in Wales rising 11.8% over the past year to £713 per calendar month.

The rental market in Wales is experiencing a boom, with figures from HomeLet showing the average UK rent at a record high. Excluding London, the average UK rent is now £878 per calendar month, up 8.7% from last year. Wales saw the second-highest rental increase in the UK, behind only south west England.

For those with a budget over £1,800 per calendar month, unique properties like Meadow Springs—a two-bedroom barn conversion with a hot tub and outdoor kitchen—are available. The property, which comes fully furnished and with bills included, will be available for long-term rent from November 22.

Another unusual rental is a converted church in Penarth, offering a blend of contemporary and period features. The property includes a church tower with panoramic views, though the report notes that converting churches can be challenging.
