Another often-overlooked issue is dust. Substantial accumulations of dust and fluff can block the thin metal fins at the back of the radiator. These fins are crucial for maximising the surface area that emits heat. A build-up acts as an insulator, preventing warmth from entering the room. This can be easily remedied by using a long, slender radiator duster to clean between the fins.
