Widow Recalls Husband's Collapse on Bathroom Floor After Brain Tumour Diagnosis

A woman from west Wales has described the moment police found her husband collapsed on the bathroom floor, where he had been lying for four days before being diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour. Mark Causey, 61, from Kilgetty in Pembrokeshire, was discovered by officers after his wife Rosalind raised the alarm.

Rosalind had dropped Mark off at home after visiting her mother, but became concerned when he failed to contact her. Using a webcam, she saw footage of him looking “dishevelled and staggering” before he disappeared from view. Police broke in and found him dehydrated and semi-conscious on the bathroom floor.

Mark was rushed to Withybush General Hospital, where a CT scan revealed lesions on his brain. He was later diagnosed with glioblastoma, the most aggressive form of brain cancer. Doctors said surgery was not possible and gave him eight to 12 weeks to live.

Despite a brief improvement, a follow-up MRI showed the tumour had doubled in size. Mark passed away in September 2024 at home, surrounded by family. His coffin was transported on a motorcycle hearse, followed by over 100 bikers.

Rosalind is now fundraising for Brain Tumour Research, taking on their 99 miles in November challenge. “Brain tumours are the leading cause of death in children and adults under 40, yet only one per cent of national cancer research funding is allocated to this disease,” she said.
