The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed that some benefit payments will be made early due to the upcoming Early May Bank Holiday weekend. Claimants of Universal Credit, State Pension, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), and other benefits may receive their money earlier than usual.
Payments due on Monday, May 4 will be issued on Friday, May 1, as DWP offices and phones will be closed on the bank holiday. Similarly, payments scheduled for Monday, May 25 will be brought forward to Friday, May 22. This ensures claimants have access to funds when banks and government services are shut.
The affected payments include Universal Credit, State Pension, PIP, Child Benefits, Adult Disability Payment (ADP), and Attendance Allowance. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and Social Security Scotland have also confirmed early payments for some scheduled dates.
Claimants whose payment dates do not fall on May 4 or May 25 will receive their money as normal. The DWP advises recipients to check their payment schedules and plan accordingly.
