Arsenal are expected to accelerate their pursuit of Club Brugge forward Christos Tzolis after finalising the £17 million sale of Leandro Trossard to Besiktas. The reigning Premier League champions are preparing for a busy summer transfer window as they aim to bolster their attacking options ahead of their title defence.
Trossard Departure Clears Path for Tzolis
Arsenal confirmed earlier this week that they had reached an agreement with Turkish Super Lig club Besiktas for the permanent transfer of Leandro Trossard. A club statement read: "We can confirm that we have reached an agreement with Besiktas for the permanent transfer of Leandro Trossard. With a transfer fee agreed, Leo, 31, has been granted permission to travel to Istanbul to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of his move to the Turkish Super Lig club. We will provide a further update once the transfer has been completed."
According to BBC Sport, Club Brugge are now bracing for an offer from Arsenal for Tzolis, with the Greece international valued at around £30 million. The former Norwich City winger has emerged as a key target for the Gunners this summer, but progress had been stalled by uncertainty surrounding Trossard's future.
Arsenal's Forward Overhaul
Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is reportedly working on a deal to bring Tzolis to north London, and Brugge now expect the champions to make a formal bid in the near future. Tzolis is not the only forward linked with a move to the Emirates; Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers, Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, and Bournemouth's Eli Junior Kroupi are also on the club's radar.
Mikel Arteta's side are expected to undergo a significant revamp of their forward options this summer, with multiple targets being considered to strengthen the squad for the upcoming campaign.
