Jeremy Doku Eyes FA Cup Glory After Past Final Heartbreaks with Man City
Doku Targets FA Cup Win After Two Final Defeats

Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku has admitted the sheer scale of the club’s achievement in reaching a record fourth successive FA Cup final is yet to fully sink in. Despite the team’s consistent success, the Belgium international is personally driven to secure the trophy after experiencing defeat in two previous Wembley showpieces.

Doku’s FA Cup Heartbreak

Doku, who joined City in the summer of 2023 following their FA Cup triumph over Manchester United, has since been on the losing side in a Wembley final against United in 2024 and Crystal Palace last year. He expressed his awe at City’s sustained performance, stating: “I think we as a squad don’t realise what we are doing – fourth time in a row, it’s unbelievable. Fair play to everyone in the club. Every year being there after playing against good teams but still reaching the final every time.”

Personal Motivation

The 23-year-old, who netted City’s equaliser in their 2-1 semi-final victory over Southampton on Saturday, is now focused on lifting the cup. “Now we want to win. I’ve not won it yet and it’s something I want to win. It’s something special,” he added.

Domestic Treble in Sight

City’s pursuit of the FA Cup comes amidst a potential domestic treble, with the final coinciding with the crucial closing stages of the Premier League title race. With five league matches remaining, City currently sit three points behind leaders Arsenal, who have played an additional game. Doku remains confident about their chances in the league, asserting: “We know we have the squad to do it. It depends on us – it’s in our hands. We have to play well and focus on ourselves.”

Upcoming Challenges

City will face Chelsea in next month’s final after the Blues beat Leeds United 1-0 on Sunday, but must first focus on chasing down Arsenal in the title race. Pep Guardiola’s team will return to Premier League action next Monday when they face Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
