Amanda Holden Wears England Kit and White Heels for World Cup

Amanda Holden put her own special twist on the World Cup as she posed in a full England kit - and white heels - hours before kick-off.

England's World Cup Opener

The country will come to a standstill later this evening when the Three Lions begin their campaign to bring the World Cup trophy home, with their first game against Croatia in Dallas.

In new snaps on social media, the 55-year-old could be seen posing alongside her Heart FM colleagues as they donned England kits for the big day. She proudly captioned the post: “Team @thisisheart”.

In another snap, posted by the radio station’s official account, the Britain’s Got Talent judge was seen clutching a football as she marked the day in an official jersey and matching shorts, but decided to pair the kit with matching white heels, instead of trainers.

Heart FM Breakfast Show

Appearing on the Breakfast show this morning, she led a chant of “It’s Coming Home” after Ashley James swapped her USA kit for an England top live on air - much to the shock of her co-hosts.

Amanda and co weren’t the only famous faces getting in the spirit to mark England’s opening game, which kicks off at 9pm, as football legend John Barnes took the opportunity to perform on top of the London Eye.

He went above and beyond - quite literally - as he was pictured standing on top of a pod, decked out in a football shirt, taking in the views of London before belting out his 1990 hit, World In Motion.

At one point, the former England player was joined at the attraction by acapella group, London A Cappella Collective, for a stunning rendition of the song.

Singing for England

Football fans have been invited to follow suit in a special Singing for England pod, where they can cheer the team on with a string of celebratory songs.

“World in Motion was written to capture that surge of belief you feel when England head into a tournament, and singing it today at the very top of the London Eye – a global symbol of London and beyond, and somewhere very few people have had the privilege of being - has taken that feeling to another level,” he said of the move.

“Being joined by the London A Cappella Collective and hearing the song reimagined, before I got to drop the rap, was really special.

“As the country gets behind the Three Lions for the World Cup, I’m hoping that my highest ever performance of ‘World In Motion’ can help motivate the players to new heights ahead of the Croatia game.”
