MSE: Get Paid to Watch TV with The Viewers

Money Saving Expert (MSE), founded by Martin Lewis, has published a list of more than 60 ways to boost income, including a method that pays people to watch television. The suggestion involves joining The Viewers, a research panel that sources opinions for broadcasters and programme makers.

How the TV Panel Works

MSE explains that TV enthusiasts can earn money by giving feedback on programmes before they air, suggesting catchy titles, or deciding which personalities should get more airtime. Participants can attend face-to-face research groups, usually held in major UK cities, complete online surveys, or do both.

To prevent individuals from becoming “serial respondents,” participation in group discussions is limited to one every six months, unless a project has multiple stages. Online surveys, however, can be completed as often as desired.

Who Can Join and What It Pays

The Viewers panel is open to all UK residents aged 16 or over. Registration requires a short questionnaire about viewing habits, taking five to ten minutes. Applications are reviewed before approval, which may take up to two weeks during busy periods, but approved members have the same chance of selection as existing participants.

MSE states that face-to-face group discussions pay at least £40, usually in cash immediately after the event. Online focus groups pay the same amount via bank transfer, PayPal, or Amazon vouchers. Online surveys pay between £1 and £10 depending on length, with monthly payments via bank transfer, PayPal, or Amazon gift voucher, and no minimum earnings threshold.

How to Sign Up

The Viewers website invites those with opinions about TV to register for free, noting that participation in any paid group discussion or survey is always optional. Registration is open via the official site, which also hosts a list of frequently asked questions.
