Kraft Heinz has announced a voluntary recall of over 83,000 cases of its individually wrapped Kraft Singles American processed cheese slices due to a potential choking hazard. The company stated that a temporary issue with one of its wrapping machines may cause a thin strip of plastic film to remain on the slice after the wrapper is removed.
The recall affects 16-ounce packages of Kraft Singles American Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product with a 'best when used by' date between 10 January 2024 and 27 January 2024. Also included are three-pound multipacks with a 'best when used by' date between 9 January 2024 and 13 January 2024.
Kraft Heinz said it initiated the recall after receiving several consumer complaints, including six reports of gagging or choking. No injuries or serious health issues have been reported. The affected machine has since been repaired.
Consumers who have purchased the affected products are advised not to consume them and to return them to the store of purchase for an exchange or refund. Alternatively, they can contact Kraft Heinz at 1-800-280-8252 to verify if their product is part of the recall and to receive reimbursement.
