Beauty Cream Recalled Over Chemical Risk and Label Errors

Popular Beauty Cream Withdrawn from Sale Over Serious Chemical Hazards

A widely used beauty cream has been urgently recalled from customers following the discovery of a serious chemical risk. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) issued a recall notice for the product, advising anyone in possession of it to cease use immediately.

Incorrect Ingredients and Allergen Warnings Pose Health Threats

The Glow & Lovely Hydraglow Rose Enrich Serum Cream presents a chemical risk due to incorrect ingredient listings on its label and a failure to specify fragrance allergens. Consequently, Lajawab Foods Limited has withdrawn the product from sale. The cream is described as a skin product packaged in a pink-and-white cardboard box, weighing 50 grams, and bearing the barcode 8961014255669.

The OPSS stated: "The product presents a serious chemical risk as the ingredients list had incorrect ingredients listed and had not specified fragrance allergens. Consumers who are sensitive to certain allergens are not informed and may experience an adverse effect. The product does not meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 ('The Cosmetics Regulation')."

It added: "The product has been withdrawn from the market by Lajawab Foods Limited. We recommend that owners stop using this product immediately and contact the distributor to request redress."

Recent Similar Recalls Highlight Ongoing Safety Concerns

This incident follows closely on the heels of another major recall just last week, when a number of celebrity perfumes were pulled from shelves at Savers Health and Beauty stores. The retailer recalled the 'Rhianna 15ml' fragrances—specifically Kiss, Riri, and Rogue—due to the presence of banned ingredients.

The OPSS warned: "The products present a serious chemical risk as they contain butylphenyl methylpropional (BMHCA/lilial) and/or hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde. Both chemicals are prohibited in cosmetic products. BMHCA may harm the reproductive system, may harm the health of the unborn child, and may cause skin sensitisation. The products do not meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 ('The Cosmetics Regulation')."

Only items purchased from Savers Health and Beauty stores are subject to this recall notice. Customers with the affected perfumes have been instructed to return to the store for a full refund.

Detailed List of Affected Products and Batch Codes

The specific perfumes involved in the recall, along with their batch codes, are as follows:

  • Rihanna Kiss 15ml EDP - 0608940572252
  • Rihanna Riri 15ml EDP - 0608940560389
  • Rihanna Rogue 15ml EDP - 0608940559437

These consecutive recalls underscore significant concerns regarding product safety and regulatory compliance within the cosmetics industry, prompting heightened scrutiny from authorities and consumers alike.
