Aldi has issued an urgent recall for one of its popular Christmas snacks, warning customers of a serious health risk and advising them not to consume the product.
What Product Is Affected?
The recall concerns the supermarket's Dairyfine Salted Caramel Filled Gonks. The product has been found to potentially contain peanuts that are not declared on the label. This poses a significant risk to anyone with a peanut allergy or intolerance.
The specific product details are the 90g Filled Gonks with any best before date. The affected batch can be identified by the code 4061463276865.
Official Advice and Action for Shoppers
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has officially announced the recall. Aldi has been instructed to contact relevant allergy support organisations to inform their members about the situation.
The recall notice states clearly: "Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund." No receipt is required for the return.
Aldi has also issued a point-of-sale notice in its stores to alert customers who may have purchased the item. The supermarket apologised, stating: "We apologise that this product did not meet our normal high standards and thank you for your co-operation."
A Repeat Incident for Aldi
This is not the first time Aldi has faced a similar issue recently. In October, the chain recalled its Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s over identical concerns about undeclared peanuts.
At that time, the allergy charity Anaphylaxis UK responded to the alert, reinforcing the message that such products are "unsuitable for and should be avoided by anyone with an allergy or intolerance to peanuts."
Customers with any concerns are urged to check their purchases immediately and follow the official guidance to ensure their safety.
