HMRC has confirmed that the Scottish Child Payment of £112.80 will be paid on August 4 for eligible households in Scotland, one day later than usual due to the August bank holiday. The payment, worth £28.20 per week per child, is issued every four weeks, resulting in £112.80 per child per cycle. There is no limit on the number of eligible children in a household.
Payment Date Changes for Scotland
According to HMRC, payments due on Monday, August 3, will now arrive on Tuesday, August 4, in Scotland only. Payments due on Tuesday, August 4, will be delayed to Wednesday, August 5, also solely in Scotland. Parents in England and Wales will see no changes to their payment schedules.
Social Security Scotland, which administers the payment, confirmed the revised dates. To qualify, claimants must live in Scotland, be responsible for at least one child under 16, and receive a qualifying benefit themselves or through their partner.
Impact on Other Benefits
The bank holiday may also affect other benefits administered by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). While DWP has not yet confirmed changes, it is expected to follow a similar pattern. Payments due on Monday, August 31, are likely to be issued on Friday, August 29.
Benefits potentially affected include Attendance Allowance, Carer’s Allowance, Employment Support Allowance (ESA), Income Support, Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), Pension Credit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), State Pension, and Universal Credit.
HMRC urges recipients to check their payment schedules and plan accordingly. For further details, visit the official HMRC or Social Security Scotland websites.
