Historic Half-Time Show Debuts at World Cup Final
The World Cup Final 2026 between Spain and Argentina will feature the first half-time show in the tournament's history. The match airs tonight, Sunday, July 19, on BBC One and ITV at 8pm from MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
The International Football Association Board waived its rule limiting half-time breaks to 15 minutes, allowing for an extended interval. FIFA described the decision as a "landmark celebration at the intersection of sport, music and global impact."
Start Time and Duration
The half-time show is scheduled to begin at approximately 8:50 PM on both BBC One and ITV, though the actual start may be closer to 9pm due to stage setup. The performance itself is expected to run for 11 minutes, but the total interval could last around 25 minutes, including stage assembly and dismantling. BBC and ITV pundits will provide match commentary during the break.
Star-Studded Line-Up
The half-time show is headlined by Madonna, Shakira, Justin Bieber, and K-pop boy band BTS. Additional performers include Nigerian singer Burna Boy, Philharmonic director Gustavo Dudamel, and PS22 Chorus featuring Coldplay. Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin curated the show.
FIFA aims to raise money for its Global Citizen Education Fund through the event, targeting $100 million to improve access to football and quality education for children worldwide.
