Amazon Shoppers Just Discovered Hidden Message in Iconic Logo
Hidden Message in Amazon Logo Finally Spotted by Shoppers

Amazon shoppers have only just realised there is a clever message hidden within the company's logo, and people cannot believe it has taken this many years to notice it.

The Hidden Message in Amazon's Logo

Amazon is one of the world's largest companies, but shoppers have only just spotted the hidden messages within its logo. The retail giant boasts approximately 310 million customers worldwide and handles an impressive 66,000 orders per hour globally.

However, the company has experienced significant transformation since its public launch in 1997, including redesigning its logo six times. In 2000, Amazon updated its logo to feature the now-iconic curved arrow beneath the letters 'A' and 'Z', which is believed to symbolise the smile of its satisfied customers.

Yet that is not the sole 'hidden message' within its design, as Reddit users have been astounded after discovering why the company opted to point towards those specific letters. One user said: "Today I learned the arrow in Amazon's logo means they have everything from A to Z."

In response, one user said: "I can confirm this, as an Amazon employee at the time of the change to this logo." Another user added: "I always thought it was a smile - like a little smirk." A third user said: "Pretty clever, much like the arrow in the FedEx logo." One more user added: "Perhaps the logo's creator should have made it more obvious."

  • Early name: Jeff Bezos originally incorporated the company in 1994 as Cadabra, Inc., a play on the magic word "abracadabra." The magical branding did not last long. When Bezos pitched the name to his lawyer over the phone, the lawyer misheard it as "cadaver" (a corpse). Let us just say he rethought the brand name pretty quickly after that!
  • Bell ringing: In the very first months of operation in 1995, Amazon had a bell set up in the office that would ring every time a customer made a purchase. The small team would gather around the computer to see if anyone knew the customer. They had to disable the bell within a few weeks because it started ringing almost constantly.
  • Secret URL: Before settling on Amazon, Jeff Bezos seriously considered naming the company "Relentless." In fact, if you type Relentless.com into your browser today, it still redirects directly to Amazon's homepage.
  • The "two-pizza" rule: To keep the company agile and avoid bureaucratic bloat, Bezos instituted the "two-pizza rule" for meetings. If a team cannot be fed by two large pizzas, the team is too large. This generally limits project groups to about six to ten people.
  • Dog-friendly HQ: Amazon's main campus in Seattle is famous for its canine population. There are reportedly over 10,000 dogs registered to come to work with their owners. The campus even features dog parks, free treats at reception desks, and a dog-friendly rooftop terrace.
