Cammy Devlin joins Rangers on two-year deal as Souttar and Danilo near exit
Cammy Devlin signs for Rangers; Souttar and Danilo set to leave

Cammy Devlin has signed a two-year contract with Rangers after successfully undergoing a medical, becoming Derek McInnes' sixth summer arrival on a free transfer from Hearts. The deal includes an option for an additional 12 months.

Souttar and Danilo set for exits

John Souttar and Danilo are both edging towards the Ibrox exit door after skipping Rangers' training camp in Spain. Scotland defender Souttar has interest from clubs in England, while Brazilian striker Danilo is being pursued by teams in Greece and the Netherlands. Both players were given permission to remain in Glasgow to finalise their moves.

Devlin's move from Hearts

Devlin, 28, will join his new teammates next week after time off following his involvement with the Australia squad at the World Cup. McInnes, a long-time admirer of Devlin's work rate and tenacity, was determined to reunite with him after leaving Hearts for Rangers last month. The Jambos announced on Friday that Devlin would not return to the capital after his contract expired.

Devlin was a key member of the Hearts side that came close to winning the club's first league title in 66 years. He said: "It feels amazing, I am obviously so happy to get it over the line, with the gaffer coming here, and a lot of change happening at the club, it feels like a great time to be coming here. It is just an absolute honour and privilege. I am so aware being in Scotland for a while now the size of the club and everything that comes with playing at such a massive football club. To call myself a Rangers player now feels pretty special and I just cannot wait to get started."

McInnes on Devlin

McInnes added: "Cammy is obviously a player I know and I am well aware what he will offer to Rangers. His levels of consistency for me were superb and he is the type of player that every manager wants in his team. He is someone who knows the Scottish league and nothing will surprise him with what lies ahead. I am looking forward to welcoming Cammy to Rangers and working with him again after he returns from his holiday."

Souttar and Danilo's situations

Souttar, 29, had been a regular at Ibrox since joining from Hearts in 2022 but dropped out of the starting lineup in the final weeks under Danny Rohl and did not feature for Scotland during their World Cup campaign. Danilo, who cost £6 million from Feyenoord in 2023, has failed to meet expectations and spent the second half of last season on loan at NEC Nijmegen.

Rangers' summer business

McInnes has moved quickly to strengthen his squad since leaving Hearts, adding Lawrence Shankland, Ben Godfrey, Dan Neil, Ross McCrorie, and goalkeeper Ivor Pandur, with up to five more signings expected.
