Scarlett Moffatt has shared a heartwarming update about her unborn baby boy after a devastating week in which two family members passed away. The 35-year-old former I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! star posted on Instagram that a scan showed her son "wriggling away and doing well," providing a rare moment of joy amid the grief.
Two Losses in One Week
Earlier in the week, Moffatt announced the death of her mother-in-law Janice, writing: "My heart is broken for Scott and all of his family at the loss of his mam Janice. You were the best Nanna to Jude, the kindest mother-in-law and one of the loveliest people I’ve ever known. I’m so upset that you won’t get to meet your second grandson but I know you will be watching over us all."
Days later, she revealed that her grandad Moffatt had also died. In a statement on Instagram, she said: "Unfortunately, more sad news for our family this week. My grandad Moffatt has sadly passed away. Me, Scott and all our family really appreciate all of the love and kindness you've shown us following the loss of Janice and now my grandad. Thank you so much."
Scan Brings Hope
Amid the sadness, Moffatt shared a positive update from a hospital scan. She wrote: "In the middle of such a heartbreaking week, we went to see our little boy today. Seeing him wriggling away and knowing he's doing well gave us a little moment to smile when we really needed it."
Moffatt announced her second pregnancy earlier this year. Her son Jude, who is now a toddler, held a personalised newspaper with the headline "Baby Dobinson another miracle coming soon!" The couple said: "We honestly can’t believe we’re writing this… After everything, we feel unbelievably lucky to be able to say… our family is growing. One little miracle gave us Jude, and now he’s going to be a big brother."
Past Struggles with Fertility
During her appearance on I'm a Celebrity South Africa, Moffatt opened up about the difficulties she and her partner Scott Dobinson faced trying to conceive. She said: "We tried for a long time and had some losses, and it’s not nice, is it. And because no one talks about it, you think something is wrong with you."
She also revealed: "After Jude was born, we tried again and got quite far on and miscarried," adding: "I remembered Scott’s mum and dad took Jude for the day, and me and Scott just laid in bed crying. It was awful."
Moffatt, who won over audiences during her original I'm a Celebrity stint and returned for the South Africa spin-off, has been praised by fans for her openness about grief and fertility struggles. Despite missing out on the final, she remains a beloved figure in reality TV.
