Talacre Beach, a seaside village in North Wales located an hour's drive from Liverpool, is renowned for its coastline featuring four miles of golden sand, a historic lighthouse, and the five-star Talacre Beach Resort. According to the North East Wales website, the beach offers a "welcome relief" from the hustle and bustle of neighbouring seaside towns. It is also dog friendly.
Coastal Walks and Lighthouse
The Wales Coastal Path runs along Talacre Beach, passing the Point of Ayr lighthouse, built in 1776 to guide ships entering the Dee estuary. A wooden walkway provides an inland route linking with a cycleway. During high tide or windblown sand, a shorter 1.6-mile route can be taken behind the sand dunes, where a small pool inhabited by natterjack toads can be found. The longer route is 3.1 miles. Visitors can start the walk from Talacre Beach road-end (Start Grid Ref: SJ 12457 84841). The full route is available on the Wales Coast Path website.
Dining and Entertainment
The Point bar, a short walk from the lighthouse, serves local beers, spirits, hot food and drinks, and hosts events such as a Country Music Fest on Saturday, July 25, and a Northern Soul Alldayer on Saturday, August 22. The Lighthouse Inn and Diner, located nearby, offers a beer garden and will host a Reggae and Caribbean themed all dayer on Saturday, August 1, with steel bands, games and a disco. For sweet or savoury snacks, Clwyd Bakeries offers pies and fresh cream cakes, while Lola & Suggs beachside cafe serves breakfasts, homemade cakes, and barista coffee.
Amusements and Resort
Sandancer Amusements on Station Road has provided traditional arcade machines and games for decades. The village is also home to Talacre Beach Resort, a five-star tourist board award winning resort that offers "the nostalgia of a seaside holiday, with a modern and contemporary twist," according to its description.
