Kai Rooney has responded to Manchester United youngster Darlington Osuchukwu's decision to leave the club. The Spain U17 international goalkeeper announced his departure on social media, with Rooney commenting "montañaa (mountain)" alongside a broken heart emoji. Rooney, the son of United legend Wayne Rooney, also shared a picture of Osuchukwu on his Instagram story with the caption "Buena suerte hermano" (Good luck brother) and a red heart emoji.

In an Instagram post, Osuchukwu wrote: "After four unforgettable years at this incredible club, I have made the incredibly difficult decision to move on and embrace a new challenge. This was not a decision my family and I took lightly. While I was grateful to be given the opportunity to continue my journey here, we believe the time is right to begin a new chapter." He added: "It is impossible to put into words how much this club has meant to me. I want to thank everyone at Manchester United—and I truly mean everyone. From the coaches who believed in me, to the kitmen who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, and especially my teammates, who became so much more than teammates—they became my brothers."

Osuchukwu's Move to Athletic Bilbao

Osuchukwu, previously an England U16 international before switching allegiance to Spain, is set to join Athletic Bilbao. El Gol Digital reported that the Spanish side had been working on recruiting the teenager since late last year. He was also claimed to have attracted interest from Barcelona and several other European clubs. The shot-stopper leaves with fond memories from his four years with United, as he expressed: "Although I am moving on, Manchester United will always hold a special place in my heart.
